With verses, poetry, image, music…
They are portals that open every time a page is turned.
The book contains within itself all the creative ambition of humanity.
Of this it is both witness and messenger.
A book can be of any size and, why not, of all forms.
It is enough that it carries within its words the thoughts of a dreamer.
Saltimbancos Artistlibroj is a traveling exhibition of artist books and mail art, bringing together diverse visions of the book as an object of artistic creation and a territory of graphic expression.
In this exhibition, visitors can view visual journals, artist’s books, book-objects, artzines, and mail art projects from various countries.
The widely accepted definition of what is understood as a book is questioned and rethought by each artist who uses this medium as a means of creative expression.
The exhibition, curated by Miguel Correia, will be on display at the BIBLIOTECA DA UNIVERSIDADE DE AVEIRO (Helène de Beauvoir Room), from May 4 to July 1, 2026.
The exhibition features 86 works by 82 artists from 16 countries (Germany, Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Spain, United States of America, France, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, United Kingdom, and Sweden).

ARTISTERIUM CREATIVE WORKSHOP SERIES
(First quarter of 2026)
Taking place from January 10, 2026, to March 7, 2026
At the beginning of 2026, the Artisterium Collective is organizing a series of creative workshops focused on various printing and drawing systems and techniques, with a special emphasis on independent publishing. These workshops feature a group of highly regarded trainers with deep expertise in the subjects covered, ensuring quality, diversity, and inspiration in every training session.
The ARTISTERIUM program is a collective project under the auspices of AUROQUE – Cultural Association, hosted in collaboration with other cultural entities, in the former facilities of the Cooperativa Cultural e Recreativa da Gafanha da Nazaré (the former broadcast space of Rádio TerraNova).
This project was born from the desire of a group of people to combine efforts, practices, and dreams to create a space dedicated to creativity, exploration, and experimentation in graphic expression, through multidisciplinary activities including training, publications, and exhibitions.
