Each book is a world, many worlds, galaxies, multiverses.
With verses, poetry, image, music…
They are portals that open every time a page is turned.
The book contains within itself all the creative ambition of humanity.
Of this it is both witness and messenger.
A book can be of any size and, why not, of all forms.
It is enough that it carries within its words the thoughts of a dreamer.
Saltimbancos Artistlibroj is a traveling exhibition of artist books and mail art, bringing together diverse visions of the book as an object of artistic creation and a territory of graphic expression.
In this exhibition, visitors can view visual journals, artist’s books, book-objects, artzines, and mail art projects from various countries.
The widely accepted definition of what is understood as a book is questioned and rethought by each artist who uses this medium as a means of creative expression.
This exhibition is aimed at the general public, with a greater focus on young adults and the University of Aveiro community with an interest in or connection to the following areas:

The exhibition, curated by Miguel Correia, will be on display at the BIBLIOTECA DA UNIVERSIDADE DE AVEIRO (Helène de Beauvoir Room), from May 4 to July 1, 2026.
The exhibition features 86 works by 82 artists from 16 countries (Germany, Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Spain, United States of America, France, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, United Kingdom, and Sweden).
