DESCRIPTION:
The act of “making marks” is a fundamental need rooted in our origin as human beings. Allowing ourselves to be guided by what we create is extremely liberating and fuels our creativity.
In this workshop, we will explore the power of rhythms as we make marks with ink.
We will experiment with creating unintentional compositions, seeking unknown situations as a human need for visual expression, concentration, and the connection between mind and body.
In this creative lab, we will explore our capacity for free expression using unconventional objects such as sticks, feathers, packaging, brushes, leaves, cardboard, and more.
We will use water-based materials (India ink, writing ink, and watercolors), soluble drawing tools, and explore their expressive potential. The drawings are not meant to represent anything concrete — the focus is on the experience. For this, no prior experience with the technique or drawing is needed; all you need is the willingness to explore and be brave.
Finally, observing shapes from a different perspective will awaken your creativity and your ability to see your marks with a new eye — a freer, more open, and creative outlook.

After the success of the first edition in 2021, FanzineUltraViolenta returns in 2022. The basic concept is the same – the theme of alternative visual culture and independent publishing – but its format has been expanded and made more relevant, becoming an event that we hope will lay the foundations for the largest European meeting of alternative visual culture and the “DiY” phenomenon to take place in Aveiro in the near future. The central theme will be independent publishing and the fanzine as a form of socio-cultural expression that is highly relevant to the underground urban “tribes” that have developed over the last sixty years.
This year’s edition has several activities, such as exhibitions of fanzines from collections that have never been made public, art exhibitions with the illustrations contained in these publications, fairs on independent publications, DIY workshops, a series of talks on graphic design and alternative music concerts.
