Participants are responsible for bringing their own drawing or painting materials.
The session fee is 5.00€ per person, payable at the start of each session, with a maximum of 15 participants per session.

FANZINE IN SCHOOL
Information session about fanzines and self-publishing at José Estêvão School Group
O Agrupamento de Escolas José Estêvão está a implementar o Plano Nacional das Artes. In line with numerous other projects in which the school is involved, the National Arts Plan makes particular sense here, as this is a school offering artistic education in the fields of visual arts, photography, and design.
As part of the activities included in the National Arts Plan, the school will create a fanzine. And to understand what exactly a fanzine is, the school welcomed art director Miguel Correia to its multipurpose space. A former student of the school, Miguel Correia is the editor of the fanzine “Ultra Violenta,” published in Aveiro. He is also a promoter and collector of various graphic objects related to the fanzine universe.

amostr – Exhibition of FANZINES AND ARTIST BOOKS 2022
Between September 29 and October 2, 2022 (ALREADY TOOK PLACE)
The event will take place from September 29 to October 2, at the Foyer of the Vila do Conde Municipal Theater. It is an event created through the partnership of Flanzine and Fanzine Ultra Violenta.
The importance of an event like this lies in the opportunity to bring together a community of Portuguese creatives who, despite being very diverse, are united by a spirit of editorial independence. The original format of these publications allows for a more genuine and personal creative expression.

Zine City
Independent Fanzines and Publishing Meeting (Already took place)
From May 20 to June 5, 2022, in Aveiro, Zine City will take place — the 1st Meeting of Fanzines and Independent Publishing. It will be held during the 46th Aveiro Book Fair 2022 at Praça da República and adjacent areas to the Atlas building.
This is a pilot event intended to be a place where alternative independent publishers can promote their work and showcase their creations and editions on a privileged stage dedicated to alternative visual culture.
Here, we can find publishers from various cities across Portugal, who head to Aveiro to share with the public the result of another year of editorial and artistic production.
The public will find at this group’s stand various forms of fanzines, artist books, and publications with limited or exclusive print runs, taking on the most varied formats, techniques, and printing styles.
The themes of these publications include prose, poetry, illustration, comics, photography, collage, and experimental graphic design.
And all this with one certainty: you will not find these publications for sale in any large supermarket or mass-market bookstore.
“During the event, all artists invited to the 1st Edition of Zine City will have their publications available to the public. A selection of these publishers will be highlighted on specific days *(marked in front of their names).” This will allow visitors to meet them in person and exchange ideas about each of the presented works.
