He was born in Aveiro in 1980. Early on, he began turning bowls upside down to drum with his grandmother’s wooden spoons, while also scribbling on every smooth surface he could find around the house. This gave rise to two of his great passions: percussion and visual arts.
Meanwhile, thanks to a sense of humor that no one else seems to understand (potential material for a PhD study), he discovered the third point of his creative triangle: storytelling. This triangle eventually led him to a career in animation, which he has been teaching for the past six years.
At the same time, whenever he can find the time, he continues to explore music, drawing, and, more occasionally, theater. On a final note, he suffers from pareidolia and cannot stop seeing faces everywhere… Look, there’s one!

CONTEXTUALIZATION:
Since the Renaissance, with the discovery/invention of perspective, the way the surrounding world has been recorded on paper has literally expanded our horizons. Whether through the creation of simple observational tools or the complex systematization of analytical processes, perspective has emerged as a solution for some and a constraint for others.

DESCRIPTION:
After explaining to ChatGPT what we would do in this workshop, its output was: “This practical approach not only improves accuracy and spatial understanding, but also stimulates confidence and fluidity in the creative process.” – and that seemed perfectly fitting to me.
In practice, we will seek a middle ground between drawings where the vanishing points are off the page (sometimes even outside the room) and drawings where, although everything converges at the correct points, the result barely corresponds to what we are actually observing.

MATERIAL TO BRING BY PARTICIPANTS:
Sketchbook, drawing materials, colored pencils.

MATERIAL PROVIDED BY THE TRAINER:
Ruler, set square, compass.

Some of the required materials will be provided by the organizers; participants may also bring their own.
