TRAINER:
Helena Zália
She was born on a spring morning in April in Guimarães. She grew up in the countryside and believes that this direct contact with nature sharpened her curiosity, restless spirit, wonder at her surroundings, and above all, the instinct to transform and create, while deep roots grounded her in images, drawing, colors, books, and a fascination with artistic creation in its various forms. The natural path was to pursue education in the arts, a choice she made during her school years. Her academic background includes Visual Education [Escola Superior de Educação de Leiria] and Communication Design/Graphic Production [University of Aveiro and University of Barcelona], but painting, printmaking, photography, sewing, 3D character creation, and illustration have all served as means of expression and communication over the years. She currently lives and works between Guimarães and Gafanha da Nazaré [Ílhavo].
CONTEXTUALIZATION:
The wash drawing technique consists of creating images through drawing and a development process using ink and water.
DESCRIPTION:
In the “Wash Drawing” workshop, you will experiment with an artistic/plastic expression technique, where gouache and India ink interact using brushes and styluses, revealing and exploring textures.
Next, the drawings are literally washed under a tap.
Something magical happens—the results are always unexpected and surprising.
Dark areas are discovered, and luminous spaces are revealed.
MATERIALS AND TOOLS:
Graphite pencils; 250g/300g watercolor paper; white gouache; black India ink; brushes; skewers.
GENERAL CONSIDERATIONS:
Some of the required materials will be provided by the organizers; participants may also bring their own.
At the end of the training, each participant may request their personalized Certificate of Participation.
