ZINE CITY, the 1st Meeting of Fanzines and Independent Publishing, takes place in Aveiro from May 20 to June 5, 2022. It will run during the 46th Aveiro Book Fair 2022 at Praça da República and surrounding areas near the Atlas building.
This is a pilot event, aiming to provide alternative independent publishers with a platform to showcase their work and demonstrate their creations and editions on a privileged stage dedicated to alternative visual culture.
At this event, publishers from various cities across Portugal will gather in Aveiro to share with the public the results of another year of editorial and artistic production.
The public will find at this group’s stand a variety of fanzines, artist books, and limited or exclusive edition publications, presented in diverse formats, techniques, and printing styles.
The themes of these publications include prose, poetry, illustration, comics, photography, collage, and experimental graphic design.
One thing is certain: these publications are not available for sale in any major retail store or mass-market bookstore.
