The Aveiro Book Fair, which will celebrate its 45th edition this year, will take place in a new venue: the surroundings of ATLAS Aveiro. The inauguration is scheduled for 6:00 PM on May 28, and the fair will be open Monday to Thursday from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Fridays from 3:00 PM to 10:30 PM, Saturdays and holidays from 10:00 AM to 10:30 PM, and Sundays from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

Highlighting theater as a literary genre, in tribute to the 140th anniversary of Teatro Aveirense, this edition of the Book Fair will open with the presentation of a monologue by Sara Barros Leitão, “Proclamação da existência” (“Proclamation of Existence”), followed by a conversation between the actress and José Pina, director of Teatro Aveirense, who will discuss theater-related topics.

“With a program consisting of book launches, talks with authors, gatherings, and themed days, the Aveiro City Hall aims to hold a nationally recognized literary event in the Aveiro region. The event, one of the ‘major events’ in the city post-lockdown, includes a contingency plan and many preventive and safety measures, with all activities having limited capacity and mandatory registration,” the municipality stated in a press release.

The program also includes the participation of several national authors, many prominent and well-known figures, as well as authors from the city and region of Aveiro. It features a rich schedule of music and theater events, with special emphasis on themed days, including Poetry Day, Aveiro Author Day, Children’s Book Day, and Health and Nutrition Day.

The event also offers a diverse cultural animation program, with activities for all tastes and ages. Many musical moments will be performed by local agents, reflecting a clear commitment to supporting the local cultural sector.
