EXHIBITION OF FANZINES AND ARTIST BOOKS

Date: September 29 to October 2, 2022

The event will take place from September 29 to October 2, at the Foyer of the Vila do Conde Municipal Theater. It is an event created through the partnership of Flanzine and Fanzine Ultra Violenta.

The importance of an event like this lies in the opportunity to bring together a community of Portuguese creatives who, despite being very diverse, are united by a spirit of editorial independence. The original format of these publications allows for a more genuine and personal creative expression.

The fanzine is the ideal creative medium for its author or authors to express themselves fully freely, without the constraints that often exist when represented by publishers whose editorial (or commercial) criteria influence the creative process itself. It is clearly an aesthetic and conceptual experimental space. And also the format through which many of today’s established visual artists began.

This event is an opportunity for scholars and collectors to acquire works that are not found in mainstream distribution channels, and also the ideal place for artists to meet and share ideas.

This space will be coordinated by Miguel Correia, who has invited a group of Portuguese micro-publishers to attend and showcase their fanzine format editions:
