Joana’s artistic interest has been accompanying her since an early age. During her childhood and adolescence, drawing was the form of artistic expression she most identified with, which led her to study at the Soares dos Reis Art School, in Porto. A certain fascination for technology drove her to the Communication Design course and to specialize in web design. Those interests were extended to an autonomous research process in creative coding. At the same time, dance was also part of her artistic path. Despite having started dance training in an extracurricular context, it quickly became a place of interest. Joana enrolled in a bachelor’s degree in Dance, at Escola Superior de Dança in Lisbon. It was a turning point, not only geographic, but also cultural and artistic. Choreographic creation and the exploration of the potential of body movement defined her as both a performer and an artist ‘maker’. Recently she was a student judge on InShadow Festival 2019, presented the performance “encontros corporais”, with Lara Maia, at the inauguration of the 1st Biennial of Fábrica do Braço de Prata and at Emerge Porto, in Fábrica Nortada, she debuted an excerpt from the play “Não era nada disto, o amor” at Metadança Festival, in Leiria, and was in the team of Festival Emergente 2020 as a web designer and web developer. Currently she is a student at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Lisbon, in the Master in Multimedia Art, with specialization in Interactive Arts, she is in the final stage of the creation process of the play “Não era nada disto, o amor”, in cocreation with Lara Maia, with the support of Escola Superior de Dança and Estúdios Victor Córdon, she is part of the group ENTRAR, an initiative of Culturgest, and also of the creative team of Merge – The Social Magazine.
