
Joana Castelo

Joana Castelo was born in 1982 in Aveiro.
She lives and works in Porto, where she studied Audiovisual Communication Technologies and completed a Master’s degree in Photography and Documentary Cinema in 2010 at IPP-ESMAE.
She has developed several documentary photography projects and has exhibited at the Museu da Imagem in Braga, KGaleria in Lisbon, Maus Hábitos Cultural Association in Porto, and Patch Gallery in Porto.
She collaborated with the publisher Lovers and Lollypops from 2005 to 2015 and with the documentary photography group ARCHIVO in 2012.
She took part in the Artistic Residency of the Robinson Foundation in Portalegre and was one of the emerging photographers in the “Entre Margens – O Douro em Imagens” project.
She is a photography teacher at Escola Artística Soares dos Reis, where she coordinates the editing and publication of the fanzine Fotocromia.
