TRAINER:
SARA BANDARRA
She was born in Aveiro in 1971.
She attended the Communication Design program at ESAD – Escola Superior de Arte e Design de Matosinhos. She is a Visual Arts teacher. Illustration is a language she enjoys using, constantly challenging herself. She has taken part in numerous workshops and training sessions, and has also led others. Her work has been recognized at events such as the International Illustration Meeting of S. João da Madeira, BIG – Guimarães Illustration Biennial, and the PIIP – International Porcelain Illustration Award 2019 (Vista Alegre / Tcharan Editora).
She completed several illustration projects that were published, some in co-authorship with Ana Pessoa, such as the accordion book “As Casas Abandonadas” and the book “Retrato inacabado de Mulher dentro de casa.”
She also designed a porcelain cup for Vista Alegre as part of the collective project Bode Inspiratório.
CONTEXTUALIZATION:
Illustration is a way of storytelling, of expressing ideas through images.
It can accompany a text, complementing it while also creating space for new narratives.
Collage is a technique that can be used for illustration.
DESCRIPTION:
In this workshop, participants will learn about the illustration process used in the accordion book “As Casas Abandonadas”. They will have access to a set of photocopies of photographs by the author, which were used in that project, along with other materials. With creativity and good spirit, they will explore illustration in both 2D and 3D forms.
MATERIALS AND TOOLS:
Scissors; Glue; Paper tape; Black-and-white photocopies of photographs; Various papers; Crayons; Markers; Colored pencils; Thread.
GENERAL CONSIDERATIONS:
Some of the required materials will be provided by the organizers; participants may also bring their own.
At the end of the training, each participant may request their personalized Certificate of Participation.
