Born in 1979 in Aveiro.
He graduated in Communication Design from the Escola Superior de Artes e Design in Matosinhos, Porto. He has had a professional and academic career in branding since 1997. CONTEXTUALIZATION:
The term fanzine combines “fan” (as a follower or enthusiast of something) and “zine” (from magazine). It refers to non-commercial publications with a more underground attitude, often flourishing in music and comic book communities. Fanzines are self-published and produced with simple resources. This type of publication was very popular in the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, although it originated earlier. Today, there is renewed enthusiasm for this editorial practice.
DESCRIPTION:
An introduction to the concept of independent publications will be provided.
Some examples of small press publications will be shown.
Various printing techniques commonly used in fanzines or artist books will be presented.
Participants will be invited to create illustrations based on a theme to be defined, and the resulting illustrations will later be edited and reproduced as a photocopied A5 fanzine, which will be sent to each participant.
