Workshop “Fanzines: Fragmented Culture”

This creative workshop entitled “Fanzines Workshop – Fragmented Culture,” held on February 15, 2025, was organized by Associação Postlab at their facilities and featured Miguel Correia, editor of Fanzine Ultra Violenta, as the instructor.
At the outset, participants were invited to learn about the history of fanzines, with special attention to the evolution of these independent and “do it yourself” publications in Portugal.
Revealing themselves as a creative medium for cultural production and countercultural subversion, the themes presented in the fanzines exhibited, belonging to the Fanzineteca of Aveiro, are wide-ranging, covering everything from visual arts to football and music.
Next, the participants were challenged to create their graphic compositions using analog methods (such as collage and illustration) related to the workshop theme: “Fragmented Culture.”
The creations presented in the resulting limited-edition publication capture the countercultural vision of each participant:
